A note for CSD-13:
While no formal sustainable communities caucus has been held during the first week of CSD-13, I have had several conversations suggesting that this caucus is of great interest. I would like to share a few thoughts here and request your response as a way of finding a way forward.
First, does anyone plan on attending week two at CSD-13 who would be willing to chair a suscom meeting? Beyond this if we are able to schedule something for next week, I really need one or two volunteers to co-chair the caucus if it is to be a meaningful and ongoing body. I simply do not have the capacity to provide leadership without help. But collaboratively, we could generate and sustain a this. More importantly, this caucus can reflect great diversity with broadly shared leadership. I know there are quite a few individuals that have been dedicated to the caucus. For this I am grateful.
I am also interested in dialogue that would reveal overlap, common interest, complementary, and conflicting interests with other caucuses. Many have told me that the relevance of community voice in this process cannot be overstated. I think it can inform what, from my grass roots perspective, can be a rather overwhelming process here at CSD. A process that may loose touch with the felt needs of community struggles worldwide. Communities can make sure the language and currency of CSD are grounded in the real world urgencies that communities live every day. I see all these groups as being highly relevant in the important scheme of our shared goal. None should be on the margins.
How might we move this caucus forward? Your ideas and participation would be greatly appreciated.
